
The DC Blues Society (DCBS) was founded in 1987 and is dedicated to keeping the Blues alive through outreach and education. Its mission is to celebrate, preserve, and promote the Blues as an original American art form. DCBS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on membership, contributions, and volunteers to operate. The DC Blues Society is an all-volunteer organization.

DCBS sponsors and produces events and programs each year in support of its mission:

Annual DC Blues Festival – FREE family-friendly event held each year. Features world-class Blues artists.

Monthly 4th Friday Happy Hours: On the 4th Friday of each month, featuring LIVE MUSIC / BANDS. The 4th Friday Happy Hour events are FREE!

Monthly Blues Jams: On the 1st Sunday of each month - FREE jam draws aspiring and seasoned musicians, Blues fans and dancers;

Annual FunRaiser - a tradition held each July with several local bands to raise funds for the Annual DC Blues Festival;

Special Blues shows and concerts throughout the year, featuring local, regional, and nationally touring Blues artists;

Co-sponsored Blues events and festivals, including the Silver Spring Blues Festival (June), College Park Blues Festival (November), and other special events and benefits;

Annual Battle of the Bands and Solo/Duo competition to select the DCBS representative(s) to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN;

Annual DCBS New Years Eve Dance party!

Ticket giveaway contests from partnerships with several music venues available to members only!
