DCBS Volunteers Needed!
There's an activity for
everyone!
We need you for any of these on an almost ongoing basis:
DCBS Street Team Representatives – everyone can do this and get the word out about
DCBS! Download and distribute DCBS flyers to friends / hang flyers up at
coffee shops, CD stores, malls, banks, venues, etc. – contact ads@dcblues.org
Blues in the Schools (BITS) Representatives – help BITS
Coordinator contact organizations, arrange events – contact bits@dcblues.org
Bookkeeper – record DCBS income/expenses and create
reports, assist with taxes – contact president@dcblues.org
Fundraising Assistants – create long-term and short-term funding opportunities

Grants Writers – fill out and submit grants for funding –

Membership Coordinator – Access database skills and
organized – contact president@dcblues.org
Membership Distribution – lick and stick labels/stamps and
mail forms to new/renewed members – contact president@dcblues.org
Newsletter Editor Assistant – compile and edit content and
photos, backup to current editor – contact president@dcblues.org
Newsletter Contributors – attend and write reviews of DCBS events, write articles about
DCBS members, CD reviews, etc. – contact newsletter@dcblues.org
Volunteer Coordinator Assistants – recruit and organize volunteers – contact volunteer@dcblues.org
DCBS Websters – update the DCBS website and/or DCBS
MySpace and/or administer Paypal pages – contact webmaster@dcblues.org
We always need people to help out at the DCBS events and in
general, here's what's needed:
- 1-2 people
to collect money
- 1-2 people
to monitor door
- 1-2 people
to sell raffle tickets (and 1 of them should coordinate drawing)
For the Fish Fry, in addition to the above, we need
- 4 fish
fryers for 1 hour shift each (#1 fries for first hour, #2 fries second hour,
etc.)
- 4 servers
to work 1 hour shift each (#1 serves for first hour, #2 serves second
hour, etc.)
- motorcycle
contest ballot monitor to work 2 hour shift
- fish fry
ticket collector to work 4 hour shift (chair provided)
- 3 wristband/ticket
distributors to work 2 hour shift (#1 distributes for first
2 hours, #2 distributes next two hour, etc.)

DCBS Annual Festival
Support the 22nd Annual DC Blues Festival
(September 4, 2010).
Volunteer for the DC Blues Festival!
-Send the following information to fest-volunteer@dcblues.org with the subject line Volunteer for DC Blues Festival:
- Assignment Preferences (please send 3, in order of preference) from the list below.
- Include any special messsages that we should know (you have a broken leg so can only do sit-down work, etc.)
- Your name / phone / email / DCBS member (yes or no)
If you'd like to volunteer, we ask that you help
out for at least 2-4 hours between 11-11pm. If you can help, send your
preferences to fest-volunteer@dcblues.org
Here's what we'll need this year:
Pre-Festival
- Flyer distribution -- print the flyer and pass it out and post everywhere it's free to post!
- Decorators
- Sign makers
Front Gate near Workshop Stage:
- Hand out brochures, welcome attendees
- Errand runner – cellphone needed
Stage Front:
- Sell merchandise, promote events
- Side path monitor
- Errand runner – cellphone needed
- Writer/reviewer/interviewer – interview the audience, and
write an article about the Workshops and the show for the DCBS Capital Blues Messenger

Back Stage
- Heavy equipment movers
- Errand runner – cellphone needed
Back Gate
- Monitor parking (load in/out only), watch gear in garage
Hospitality
- Assist with room set up / serve & monitor food / ensure
artists receive meals
- Heavy equipment movers
After Party
- Door monitor
- Raffle ticket sellers
Volunteer names need to be supplied to the National Park
