Mike Wescott

Mike Westcott and Blues On Board has an Electrifying fresh approach to Blues/Rock music. 2005 International Blues Competition Semifinalist, DC Blues Festival, BBQ Battle on Pennsylvania Ave Washington, DC "The Mall," Frederick Blues Festival.

Band Leader, singer, songwriter, and guitar slinger Mike Westcott is Washington DC's rising star and he is earning great respect with his unmatched Guitar playing. Born to musical parents Mike started his musical career at the age of 8 taking Piano lessons. Mike has been turning heads with his guitar work ever since he strapped on his first guitar at the ripe old age of 10. When Mike attended Middle School he started playing Sax at the beginner level and by the next year he was playing in a multiple award winning jazz band switching from Alto to Tenor, then to Baritone Sax. By Mikes Third year of Middle School mike took over the electric and upright bass role and he and his school Jazz Band played at such events as the In The Parks Festival at Bush Gardens, VA, and took top honors in the MCPS County Jazz Festival, Maryland State Jazz Festival, Chantilly, Virginia, Jazz Festival, UMBC Jazz Festival, and more. Since then, Mike has devoted his entire career to music and the results can't be ignored. Mike has a unique guitar style which is both filled with feeling and high energy and it is complimented by his heart felt singing style. Mike has also won several of the area's Best Guitarist competitions. Mike also plays Mandolin, drums, and Lap Steel guitar, Baritone Guitar and Seven String Guitars.

In addition to Mike Westcott on lead guitar and vocals, BoB includes Brian Costantino on drums, and Gene Monroe on bass. They come together to create a new and unique approach to Blues and Rock music, not to mention their original song creations.

Brian Costantino, a self-taught drummer with over 15 years behind the kit, has a ton of stage and studio experience and provides a John Bonham/Led Zeppelin style that has made him a favorite throughout the Washington metropolitan area. He has the ability to bring down the house with his powerful drum style, while also able to Funk you into a craze and then bring you down to a mellow slow blues.

Gene Monroe has been playing music for nearly his entire life. Born to musical parents, he began piano lessons at around the age of 4 under the tutelage of his mother. He studied trumpet through elementary and high school, and picked up the electric bass at the age of 19. In 1995, Gene added the upright bass to his arsenal. He has performed steadily since 1980 in bands in San Diego, Japan, and in Blues On Board's home base the DC Metro area. Equally comfortable in Country, Swing, Rockabilly, Classic Rock and the Blues, he performed frequently in the late 1990's as the upright bassist for Warner Williams and Jay Summerour (Little Bit A Blues), and has recently been playing with JB Beverley and the Wayward Drifters. He has performed at several blues festivals, including the Bluebird Blues Festival, The Western Maryland Blues Festival, and the Frying Pan Park Blues Festival. The power trio is a familiar format for Gene, though he hasn't had the pleasure of stretching out in such a configuration in many years. Gene is very excited to be aboard "Blues on Board."
