Charles "Big Daddy" Stallings
Vote for "Big Daddy" to be XM Satellite Radio's
2005 Blues Artist of the Year:
www.xmradio.com (Voting ends Nov. 27!)
Charles "Big Daddy" Stallings really knows the essence of the Blues. Born in Columbia, S.C. and raised on a farm in Hobbsville, N.C. with ten brothers and sisters, he lived the Blues everyday. Music became his escape and the first song he learned to play was "Big Boss Man" by Jimmy Reed. After migrating to Baltimore, MD., "Big Daddy" continued to develop as a musician performing in local R&B and Jazz bands all the while dreaming of recording his own Blues project.
His debut release, One Night Lover, featuring the single "4x4 Woman" recently reached #1 at XM Radio ( Bluesville-Picks To Click); the culmination of close to forty years of dedication and determination toward reaching his goal.
This Urban/Downhome Blues CD is a journey from tobacco road to the streets of Baltimore; from the lowdown "I Got The Blu-hoos" and "4x4 Woman" to the hard-driving "B-3 Blues" and "Soul Rock 'n Roll".
"Big Daddy" received a standing ovation at the 16th Annual D.C. Blues Society Festival for his performance on the bill with Blues pioneer "Pinetop Perkins" as a special guest of the legendary Nighthawks.
When asked about seeing his dream come true, "Big Daddy" Stallings says: "They used to call me 'Beanpole' but now they call me 'Big Daddy' 'cause I've come back home still loving and playing the Blues".
